Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast

½ cup warm milk (about 110°F)

½ cup granulated sugar

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon salt

¾ cup brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

½ cup chopped pecans

½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

½ cup maple syrup (for glaze)

1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)

2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and granulated sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top of the mixture and allow it to sit undisturbed for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbly.

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and add in the melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and the foamy yeast mixture. Stir gently until a soft dough begins to form.

Knead the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and transfer the dough onto it. Knead the dough for approximately 5-7 minutes until it feels smooth and elastic. Then, place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm environment until it has doubled in size (about 1 hour).

Make the Filling: In a separate small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped pecans (add walnuts if desired). Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed, then set aside.

Roll Out the Dough: After the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release air bubbles. Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a large rectangle approximately 16x24 inches.

Add the Filling: Evenly spread the cinnamon-pecan filling mixture across the rolled-out dough, ensuring to leave about a ½ inch border around the edges for easier rolling.

Roll the Dough: Starting from one of the longer edges, carefully roll the dough into a tight log shape. Pinch the seam to seal and then slice the log into 12 equal pieces.

Prepare the Baking Dish: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray. Place the cut rolls inside the dish with the cut sides facing up. Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise in a warm place for approximately 30 minutes until they are puffed and airy.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) while the rolls are undergoing their second rise.

Bake the Rolls: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake the cinnamon rolls for about 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown on top. Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool in the dish for around 10 minutes.

Make the Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, powdered sugar, and milk until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.

Glaze the Rolls: Drizzle the delicious maple glaze generously over the warm cinnamon rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy these delightful Maple Pecan Cinnamon Rolls!

                            - Presentation Tips: Serve the warm rolls on a large platter, and for a charming touch, sprinkle extra chopped pecans over the top of the glazed rolls. Optionally, place a small pitcher of extra maple syrup on the side for drizzling. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea!
